The idea of Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, can sometimes be a daunting idea for men and women considering it. However, the eyelids often can be the first area of the face to show signs of aging. The upper eyelids develop excess hanging skin which causes the lids to drop and the eyelids to be obscured. Under eye bags develop and can make the lids look puffy and tired. These natural signs of aging can often cause a disconnect between how we feel and how we look.
A typical Blepharoplasty, usually performed as an outpatient procedure, takes about an hour and you will go home the same day. From a patient level, you should ensure this surgery is performed by a skilled Oculoplastic surgeon. The eyes are not forgiving and having your procedure done by the hands of a specialist ensures that the surgery will restore a youthful and energetic look to the eyes while maintaining a natural aesthetic.
Over the coming months, I will present a few case studies of Blepharoplasty surgeries I have performed. I hope that by writing about these surgeries, it will help my current and future patients feel more comfortable with the process of eyelid surgery and will allow them to take that next step in coming in for a consultation.

Consultation
She felt she looked tired all the time and that her eyes made her look older than her age. Her goals were to look natural and refreshed. She also wanted to be able to wear makeup again without it smearing on her eyelid skin. Her biggest concern was looking artificial and surprised.
During her consultation, I explained that the best option for her was a conservative upper eyelid blepharoplasty. This would address the concerns she came to me with and provide a more vibrant and youthful appearance.
Day of Surgery
On the day of surgery, she came into our Palm Beach Gardens office. The surgery took all of 30 minutes and she was able to return home with no pain and only minimal swelling and bruising. She returned a week later for suture removal and resumed all of her previous activities 2 weeks after surgery.
This post-op photo is taken only one month after her eyelid surgery was performed. She could not have been happier with her results. Her friends felt she looked amazing but couldn’t quite pin point what she had done. It takes about one month to fully heal. The incision will continue to fade within the first 6 months.
